This website is for campsite reservations at

Buena Vista Campground ONLY.


Reservations for Kern River Campground

cannot be made on-line.

If you would like to make a reservation for Kern River Campground for Thursday through Monday, please call the Parks Administration office at 661-868-7000.

Please note:  The Administration office stops taking payments at 4:30pm


CHECK-IN Time is 2pm

 CHECK-OUT Time is 12pm


Attention:  All BVARA Campers


If you check into your campsite after the BVARA kiosk closes, you are required to go to the BVARA kiosk before 9am the next morning to check in, and pay any additional fees.

ADDITIONAL FEES MAY APPLY, payable upon entry at the campground, such as dog fees, second vehicle fees, boating fees, etc.  Please visit our website at www.kerncounty.com for further information and fee schedules.


We are pleased to announce that 2018 Kern County Annual “All Lakes”, and “Lake Isabella Only” boat permits are now available for sale online.For additional information, please contact the Kern County Parks and Recreation Department at (661) 868-7000 during regular business hours, Monday – Friday from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. To place your boat permit order by phone, call the above number.



Please contact the Parks Administration office to set up your Senior Citizen, Disabled Citizen, or Disbled Veteran's account, and/or to obtain a Disabled Veteran's Lifetime Camping Pass if you are eligible.


Buena Vista Lake Water Level

The water level is currently above minimum pool elevation 

(updated 8/28/17) 


All legal fireworks (except for authorized firework shows conducted by licensed Pyrotechnic Operators) are banned from Kern County Parks until further notice. This ban follows the Board of Supervisors approval on June 23, 2015 of an urgency ordinance banning fireworks due to drought conditions in all Kern County parks.
